Supervisory Management Skills

a) Introduction
Supervision in any organization remains a core management function to get staff to produce work and results. There is no doubt that the success of any organization cannot be fully realized without supervisors who enable rank and file to carry out various tasks in a given organization. Supervision permeates all levels of business activity, from the top executive who supervises senior management through close contact, to the shop floor supervisor or office supervisor who controls the output of the workforce.
In essence the supervisors' role in any organization is that of a linkman between the management and the workforce. He receives job instructions from management and redesigns them to match the ability and knowledge of the individual employees. He also keeps close touch with the employees to ensure proper implementation of the work assignments.
The supervisor, therefore, requires a sound and informed knowledge on the mission, goals and objectives of the organization. His training should therefore include; Business Knowledge, Effective Communication, Human Relations at work, Labour Relations, Team working Skills, Leadership skills and, subordinate training and motivation, etc.

Participants will have acquired basic managerial skills, leadership orientations, and practical know-how to allocate resources to workers and control their actions and work-patterns to ensure greater productivity and overall individual and team outputs. The training will give them capabilities to solve problems, resolve conflict at work and plan more effectively.
